Working Under Pipeline Interactive
Request:
Saxonburg Borough PA and Saxonburg Area Authority are both managed and controlled by Saxonburg PA so they requested a content management system be developed where both sites could be controlled under one system. Saxonburg PA also requested that all the pages and content be dynamically created and manageable without their administration knowing HTML or any other scripting languages. They also requested that the navigation on both sites be fully dynamic and the site be searchable.
Solution:
Saxonburg PA was the first site for Pipeline Interactive that requested a multisite content management system. This was put in place which allowed the sites to be controlled easily, keeping the administration uniform and allowing the administrators to quickly switch between the two sites. A contact form was also put into place which was processed and logged in their database. The site maps, both user and XML, were dynamically created based on site which greatly lowered maintenance for the site and allowed the content populators to easily publish pages and not worry about updating site maps.
Contribution:
The two sites of Saxonburg PA were entirely my responsibility to develop. The most difficult part was design and development of the multisite content management system but once completed this technology could be used for future sites, such as the Woodstream site suite. Saxonburg PA did not have experience with any scripting languages so all of the content had to be controlled via a WYSIWYG editor. I also had the responsibility to create a news and events administration that could be controlled by the multisite content management system.
